Life changing experience for me. At 29 I’m successful, I have a business and property and generally done ok with no idea how I really got there just energy and motivation with a lack of direction. Marital issues caused me to seek help and I have no been successfully diagnosed with adhd and received treatment. This has absolutely transformed my life, I am more productive, I work less hours, I understand people and their feelings much more and I partake in life at a normal speed rather than the 100mph whirlwind that was previous. I have more time, I am more organised, I listen better and I have come to realise the toxic relationships in my life which I have taken steps to remove. To start with I was embarrassed, emotional, felt like there was something significantly wrong with me. This isn’t the case, none of my brain development through childhood was my fault, the adhd issue I never realised I had was not my fault. Thank you to everybody involved at Psychiatry UK, the doctors, nurse and admin have been impeccable. I am not in the driving seat of my life and only I have control of the steering wheel, nobody else. Thanks again

I was initially pretty worried about the risk of going down the route of private psychiatric care (paying out of pocket, not via insurance). I had presented to my NHS GP eight years ago, complaining of tiredness, ennui, and debilitating inattention. After various physical checks, I was diagnosed with depression and placed on SSRI's. I mentioned the possibility of ADHD at the time and was given very short shrift by the GP. After trying all manner of treatments (counselling, CBT, exercise, mindfulness, changing jobs, etc) I read a news article about adult ADHD and thought "that's me!". I convinced my GP to refer me for an assessment, only to find out that the waiting time in my area is 36months. At this point, I started researching private options and found PUK to be well priced and positively reviewed. The process was generally very efficient. I was seen, via video call, within a week of getting in touch. That initial consultation was friendly, professional and well structured. I'd been asked to do some preparation in advance, fill out some questionnaires and also have my fiancee fill one out about me. We discussed those and I answered some more questions. That call resulted in me receiving a diagnosis and a provisional treatment plan to try. The cost up to that point was £350. A further £150 then got me a titration plan with a nurse and a private prescription for my first month's treatment (see below for detail). I reported back weekly information as to how I was getting on. After that month we decided to try a higher dose (£25 to issue). Over that month we stabilised my treatment. After a final consultation with the consultant (£150) I was discharged to my GP with a diagnosis and treatment plan. While my GP was happy to go ahead, the handover was complicated by various procedural issues. My local NHS won't allow the treatment I was prescribed, without continuing supervision by a specialist. Initially, I was told that it was not allowed for this to be a private practice (36month wait under NHS). After researching this, and contacting my CCG directly, I found that this wasn't the case and my GP agreed to enter into a shared care agreement with PUK. This means an extra £150/year for a short check-up with the consultant, there was no extra cost in setting up the agreement. My GP is now issuing my prescription as NHS treatment. Overall the process cost me: £675 to PUK (+ an ongoing £150 a year) £265 to my pharmacy for the medication for two months (the first month at the low dose was £85) So £940 in total. It's a lot of money, but for me, the ADHD medication (Concerta XL) was like flicking a switch in my brain. I can concentrate now, I'm far more productive, and my depression is significantly better. My only regret is that I didn't do this eight years ago. In terms of feedback for PUK: They seem to be still working out how their portal operates and there we some instances where this meant I didn't receive replies to my messages. A quick call to their number always resolved any issue though. A bit more guidance about navigating private medicine and the NHS would have been helpful. See price information below, and being warned about the possibility that my GP wouldn't prescribe without a shared care plan. PS: I didn't think about this at the time but the cost of private medication does vary a bit between pharmacies. I've looked into it since, and for comparison, for 30 × 36mg Concerta XL in my area, the variation was: £65.85 Independent pharmacy at my GP's £65.68 A different independent pharmacy £58.81 Boots £50.04 ASDA £50.94 Tesco Not dispensed on a private prescription - Lloyd's Pharmacy

I have seen numerous psychiatrists however, Dr Kulik is by far the most understanding psychiatrist I've ever worked with. His knowledge and ability to explain my previous mental health conditions and relate them to that I have been suffering from ADHD which others have been unable to do, was invaluable to me and I can now start progressing with my life. I was both relieved and grateful to be understood by him. He has a really calming influence and pragmatic approach to helping me with both my ADHD and other identified issues that he picked up on during my appointment. and I honestly can't thank him enough.

For anyone at all hesitant about using an online service to receive a diagnosis, do not hesitate whatsoever as this service has been amazing! After my initial diagnosis that was an hour long video call, a prescribing nurse kept in touch with me using their websites chat facility to see how I was doing and was able to answer any question I may having throughout my treatment with medication.

With huge NHS waiting lists, I decided to go private for this particular treatment. The care and courtesy I have received from Psychiatry UK is incredible. In particular, Dr Ilyas was the most attentive professional i have ever dealt with. For the first time I felt lile I was listened to rather than fobbed off. He listened carefully and asked questions to determine what the issues were . The result is that my life has changed dramatically for the better. I've suffered anxiety all my life and within a week it was gone. I realise that sounds far fetched but it's true. I will be forever grateful to the team who have helped me so much and with such humour as well as professionalism. Any follow up appointment, enquiry or prescription request has been dealt with so quickly and I feel I can pick up the phone and speak to someone who 'gets it' at any time.
